Dear Friends of Music in Our Schools,

We have good news about the Hillsdale High School Band... the band is on the upswing. Since Dr. Keith Rushing became the band director several years ago the band has steadily increased in both members and enthusiasm.

Today we have an unique opportunity to help Dr. Rushing maintain this great momentum.

Although most band members rent or buy their instruments, some students need to use instruments provided by the school. There is currently a waiting list of students who would like to be in the band if instruments would become available.

We can enable these aspiring young musicians to experience playing in the band by helping Dr. Rushing acquire additional used instruments for them to use.

Working with Dr. Rushing, we have established a new fund at the Hillsdale County Community Foundation to receive your tax deductible donations to the band instrument program. Your donation will be disbursed directly to the Hillsdale Community Schools, earmarked for the high school band and specifically for instrument purchases and repairs.

A portion of your donation will be disbursed each year, providing an on-going source of funds for band instruments. You may also make specific pass-thru gifts for immediate distribution if indicated as such in the gift correspondence.

In the short video below Dr. Rushing shares more information about the school's band instrument program. The video also includes a short video clip of the HHS Hornets marching band playing at Veterans' Day.

If you would like more information about the Hillsdale Community Schools Band Instrument Fund, we invite you to contact the Hillsdale County Community Foundation or contact me directly by email or telephone.

Thank you for giving the gift of music,
